According to State Statistics Committee, in the 1st quarter of 2004 all categories of Ukrainian livestock breeders sold to meet processing plants 78,700 tonnes of animals and poultry for slaughter in live weight, which is by 16,050 tonnes less than in the same period last year. The agricultural companies contributed 52,230 tonnes of this amount; the remainder is the share of private peasant-breeders.
The milk processing plants of Ukraine received in the same period 777,400 tonnes of milk and milk products, which is 15 percent more than the amount sold in the 1st quarter of 2003.
