Many companies and private entrepreneurs found really great opportunities provided by the mushroom production and supply to the rapidly extending market in the end of 90ties of the previous century. Since that time year by year Ukraine has been intensively building up the production of cultivated mushrooms. Both huge companies and hundreds of small producers are working now in this business. The business based on wild mushrooms picking turned out to be very profitable for some oblasts of Ukraine. The demand for this kind of product grows in the country and abroad.
Despite of the substantially increased volumes of mushroom production, today the market is not fully saturated, if we consider either the product quality or the quantity of the supplied mushroom products. Such situation introduces to the national producer the perspectives for development; also the market becomes very attractive for the foreign suppliers.
At the same time, the mushroom growers worry about the periods when the price for mushroom is 20-30% lower than its production cost. Though the growers talk about constantly improving technologies, which let them reduce the production cost.
In addition to the production volumes and mushroom supply increase, there are great opportunities for Ukrainian producers and importers in the sphere of the extension of the assortment of the supplied products. The assortment of fresh mushroom products consists of dozens of items on the shelves of Western European supermarkets. At the same time, Ukrainian consumers can buy only 2-3 types of mushroom products.
Naturally, the production development provokes the improvement of the production technologies, marketing, and logistics. The technologies come to Ukraine from abroad, and the business solutions are developed, specialized companies emerge on the national level.
The international conference "Mushroom Industry 2007" will become a notable event of the mushroom industry in CIS. All mushroom business players, from the producer to technology supplier and supermarket representative, can meet on the conference, discuss urgent problems and get new knowledge.
The time and venue of the conference coincides with the same-name exhibition, so that the participants will be able to save time and discover some more new ideas and opportunities.
