| Conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2006": about conference |
|
The first two conferences held in Kiev in 2004 and 2005 confirmed our initial assumption that Ukrainian fruit and vegetable industry is very hungry for high quality information about the market and market opportunities. It also confirmed a great demand for information about modern technologies of fruit, vegetable and potatoes production, post harvest handling, storage and marketing. Both times we gathered large groups of professionals (more than 350 people from 15 world countries at each event) representation all areas of fruit and vegetable business: from largest and most successful growers, processors and traders, to supermarket chains and input and equipment supply companies.
There is one thing that remains unchanged at our conferences: we keep improving them every year, listening very attentively to the participants and following the industry trends. This year we have provided a unique opportunity for the top-level management of the companies to get familiar with the major trends and opportunities of the industry during the first day and allow other experts to learn the specific technical areas of this business much better during the second day's concurrent specialized international forums devoted to the hottest industry issues: modern growing technologies, post harvest handling, storage, packing and trade. By breaking up into smaller groups with specific interests, we create an opportunity for closer communication and allow much more time for each subject.
This year's conference is named "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2006. Open market", and, for a very good reason. Ukraine opened its market for imported produce in 2005 quite abruptly, which initially caused a panic among some producers and processors and cheered up some importers at the same time. In the meanwhile, trading with Russia became more challenging than ever. There were other external factors influencing the market, such as dramatic price jumps for natural gas, electricity, steady increase of prices for fuel and utilities.
As a result, the market opened to the maximum. Thus, we decided to analyze the changes in the fresh produce business of Ukraine, which happened under influence of the above-mentioned factors. Together with the players of Ukrainian market we would like to discuss new opportunities that these factors created and try to determine perspectives for the market development.
Besides the first hand exclusive information, the conferences are also about meeting people who work in the same business, exchanging experiences and info and establishing contacts. We provide a lot of opportunities for this: we are planning a reception and a special cultural event for all participants, we will have several convenient meeting spaces built on the premises and we are planning to organize at least one (but very likely more than one) trade forum with groups of companies visiting from Poland, Macedonia, Holland, Georgia, Serbia, Russia and other countries, as well as local companies.
It is also worth mentioning that the exhibition is expected to grow substantially this year. According to the preliminary estimates, the number of exhibitors can reach 150-200 companies, and the number of participants could be more than 5 thousand people.
